Archaeological Museum

The Archaeological Museum of Moixent offers the opportunity to take a chronological and thematic tour that seeks to introduce the visitor to the understanding of the main processes of cultural change that have taken place in a specific landscape such as the Cànyoles Valley, from Prehistory to the Modern Age.

After an introduction that refers to the geography of Moixent and the Cànyoles Valley, the visit begins with an area dedicated to Prehistory. This includes remains belonging to the Neolithic and Late Bronze Age, as well as information about the cave paintings documented in the municipality.

The visit continues with the block corresponding to the Iberian period with objects from the ancient excavations of La Bastida de les Alcusses, addressing issues such as ceramics, metals, textile and decorative elements or writing, as well as a reproduction of the iconic Guerrer de Moixent.

The Iberian part is completed with a space dedicated to the funerary world, with trousseaus and sculptures belonging to Corral de Saus and the tuba del Bosquet. The third block is dedicated to the Roman period, with a special focus on the Via Augusta and the rural world, ending our tour with a section dedicated to the medieval world, both from the Islamic and Christian periods, with materials that come mainly from the Castle.
