Municipal Archaeological Museum

The creation of this museum was approved in 1969, although it was not until 1978 that it had its own building to house the collection. In 1997 it was recognised by the Department of Culture, Education and Science of the Generalitat Valenciana as a Permanent Museum Collection.

The archaeological materials conserved here cover a wide chronology, ranging from approximately 14.000 B.C. to the 14th-15th century AD. They come from various sites, mainly from the excavation carried out at the archaeological site of the Cova Santa (Santa Cave), or those carried out at the Els Horts district. We should also mention many pieces found in the Cova dels Mosseguellos (The Mosseguellos Cave), the Cova del Cavall (Horse Cave)  and the Castle.

The pieces on display include flint arrowheads, Roman bronze coins, an amphora and a circular stone mill, as well as several pots and vessels from the Bronze Age from different settlements. Finally, it is worth mentioning the pottery from the modern period donated by the Peris-Navarro family and the set of 18th century bowls found in one of the altars of the parish church.
